TNARS Counsellor Bio's
Cogi Smith - has been with the Thompson Nicola Assessment & Resource Service since May 1994. She entered the counselling field in 1989 after spending several years as a homemaker for her husband and three daughters. Cogi has a degree in Social Work. Certificates from Therapy training institute such as the Northwest Satir Institute, Yaletown Narrative Marriage Therapy Centre and diplomas from The Family Therapy Centre plus numerous training courses in cognitive behavioral therapies and addictions make-up Cogi's professional background. She has experience dealing with a variety of issues, working with children, teens, and adults, as individuals, couples or family groupings.In October 2007 Cogi was awarded The Distinguished TRU Alumni Award for her service to our community by assisting families with addictions. Cogi facilitates 2 groups, one for family members whom have children dealing with addictions, and A Mothers In Recovery group.
